Taekwondo and Safety Tips for Kids

Keeping our children safe can be a full time job these days. They are exposed to so much in our changing world, and unfortunately, we can’t be with them 24/7. As they grow and develop our job is to prepare them to venture out into the world, to be with friends and neighbors, to attend school, clubs, sports and other extracurricular activities.

To be successful, kids need tools. Tools that guide their words, attitudes, emotions, and behaviors to keep them safe.

Some of the many important tools to help kids successfully interact with the outside world are:

1.) A sense of security. Knowing they are loved helps build security and self-esteem.

2.) Giving kids the opportunity to work toward a goal and succeed at a task builds self-confidence.

3.) Having clear expectations and helping kids set boundaries for attitude and behavior helps teach them self-discipline and that leads to self-respect and respect for others.

4.) Kindness is an important lesson that we all need to emphasize to help build cooperation and better relationships amongst all people.

5.) Kids need to know who to trust and who to stay away from. This will help kids stay safe.

6.) They also need to know who and when to ask for help. Sometimes kids suffer in silence especially when being bullied.

7.) Keeping an open dialogue about their experiences, likes, fears, concerns and triumphs is a great way to keep track of your kids and know when they need our help with moral support, guidance or actual intervention.

In this blog we will discuss a few basic tips you can share with your children that have simple easy to understand language and fun photos. Sharing these pictures and tips with your kids will help you bring up these topics in a kid friendly way.
